WeCare Holiday Event: A Heartwarming Tradition Supporting the Boys and Girls Club

The WeCare Holiday Event, now in its 28th year, continues to spread holiday cheer and foster community spirit, with special support from Herman Miller and its partners. The event, which has been held for 18 years in San Diego and 19 years in Orange County, brings together children, families, and community members for a memorable celebration. This year, 140 kids from the Boys and Girls Club in Orange County and 120 kids in San Diego participated, all of whom had the chance to meet Santa, played by none other than our very own Brian Ogden in Orange County and Jorge in San Diego.

The mission of the Boys and Girls Club is to "enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens." True to this mission, the WeCare event provides children ages 5-12 with the opportunity to create personalized Christmas gifts for their families at craft stations. Afterward, the kids get to have their gifts wrapped and take them home to place under their family trees, embodying the joy of giving.

A highlight of the event is the chance for the children to meet Santa, take photos, enjoy festive music, and engage in fun activities like face painting and balloon artistry. The guiding principle behind WeCare, "It feels good to give as well as get," helps children experience the true meaning of the season by creating meaningful gifts for their loved ones.

This heartwarming event is made possible through the collaboration of Geiger, MillerKnoll, Maharam, and MK Dealer Partners, with invaluable support from G|M. A special thank you goes to the G|M team, who created Santa’s outfits, adding a personal touch to the holiday fun.

As Udeshi Weerasekera, G|M Account Executive, shares, "The kids were absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to talk and share their wishes with Santa. It was a heartwarming experience that not only brought joy to the children, but also created a special moment of connection for the community. This event served as a beautiful reminder of the importance of socializing, spreading holiday cheer, and giving back to those around us, fostering a sense of togetherness and goodwill."

The WeCare Holiday Event remains a cherished tradition, bringing joy and making a lasting impact on both the kids and the community.

G|M Business Interiors celebrated 35 years of supporting the Riverside University Health System Festival of Trees, which benefits their charitable RUHS Foundation.

RUHS Foundation was established in 1989 as a nonprofit philanthropic organization. For nearly three decades the Foundation has collaborated successfully with donors and stakeholders to support RUHS Medical Center’s role as a public teaching hospital and safety net provider. The founders were inspired by the medical center’s work with kids, particularly in the area of child abuse and neglect, and over the years that commitment has grown and evolved to include much more. RUHS Foundation is proud to support RUHS Behavioral Health and Public Health agencies and the system’s 14 community-based health clinics with a goal of serving and safeguarding the county’s 2.35 million residents.
