San Diego Confidential Client
G|M Business Interiors partnered with ID Studios and Pacific Building Group to create a modern, bright, and inviting 20,000 square-foot office space for a confidential client located in the Little Italy neighborhood of San Diego.
G|M Business Interiors collaborated with A+D firm, ID Studios, and general contractor, Pacific Building Group, to undertake the transformation of a confidential client's 20,000-square-foot headquarters in San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood.
Situated on the 3rd floor, the space boasts panoramic views of the waterfront and convenient access to the outdoors via three separate patios. The layout includes 48 workstations, 16 private offices, and various ancillary areas such as 12 Team Rooms, an IT room with walk-up tech support, an organic cove featuring built-in benching, six focus rooms, five phone rooms, a mother's room, a wellness/meditation Room, and a stylish café serving as an all-hands area.
The client sought a complete brand refresh for this dedicated suite, which was essentially a blank canvas with bare concrete floors and walls upon lease signing, marking their transition from a space with rental furniture to a permanent home. San Diego serves as one of the inaugural installations for their workstation and office product standards adopted nationwide.
Collaborating with ID Studios, G|M approached the project with fresh perspectives, incorporating unique design elements while adhering to the national standards already established. The client's vision was an open, light-filled workspace infused with energy and focus. Incorporating the green logo throughout the floorplate and infusing a fun, sophisticated coastal vibe inspired by the bay views, G|M aimed to create an atmosphere of relaxation and productivity, epitomized by the "Chill Vibes" sign in the café.
Overseeing the project was G|M Market Director, Candice Young, who noted the successful integration of products from MillerKnoll's collective brands, seamlessly combining offerings from Herman Miller and Knoll for offices and workstations, and including selections from Naughtone, HAY, DWR, Geiger, Maharam, and Muuto in ancillary and patio areas.
The project, spanning approximately one year from January 2023 to February 2024, presented a few challenges including the customization of numerous products, from bespoke tables to engineered solutions. Collaboration with MillerKnoll's Tailored Studios Team facilitated the realization of custom designs, requiring close coordination between our design and sales teams, MillerKnoll, ID Studios, and the client.
